5 Citrus Fruit Salad Recipes to Freshen Up Your Winter

5 Citrus Fruit Salad Recipes for Winter

Are you looking for a delicious way to freshen up your winter? Read on to learn about the top citrus fruit salad recipes to try during the winter season!

Just because it's cold outside, doesn't mean you can't enjoy a bright citrus salad. Add a serving of vitamin C to your fruit salad. Here are some of our favorite citrus fruit salad recipes.

1. Winter Grapefruit Citrus Fruit Salad

Grapefruit is the real star of this dish from Good Housekeeping. The fruit is a blend of one pink and one ruby red grapefruit, blood, Cara Cara and Navel oranges, and one clementine. Topped with pomegranate seeds, poppy seeds.

The salad is then tossed with a simple lime and honey dressed and served with a dollop of yogurt to balance the bouquet of citrus flavor. Yum!

2. Creamy Citrus Salad

For a creamier alternative, we love this recipe from Taste of Home. Whip heavy whipping cream and then fold in vanilla yogurt. Just before you're ready to serve, add five cups of fresh cubed pineapple, five chopped clementines, one grapefruit sectioned and chopped toasted pecans.

We love this salad because of the texture. The combination of the frothy cream, bright citrus, and crunchy roasted pecans is truly magnificent.

3. Kiwi Citrus Salad

This salad from Dinner at the Zoo has more of a tropical flavor which we just love. Escape with this salad when the winter blues get you down. Simply combine three cups of cubed pineapple, one cut of cubed kiwis, two cups of clementine or mandarin segments and a half of cup of pomegranate seeds.

Toss with equal parts lemon or lime juice and honey, and top with poppy seeds and fresh mint leaves. The tropical combination of fruit, sweet dressing, and crunchy poppy and pomegranate seeds really makes this salad juicy and refreshing.

4. Arugula and Goat Cheese Citrus Salad

For a more savory citrus fruit salad, we love this recipe from Flavour and Savour. The combination of sweet oranges, spicy arugula, and creamy cheese keeps us coming back for seconds.

This recipe is a little more complex than the others but totally doable. For starters, pickle half of a thinly sliced red onion by covering it in white wine vinegar. Next peel and slice two blood oranges and two navel oranges.

Arrange the oranges on a plate, top with three tablespoons of mint leaves, arugula tossed with olive oil, white wine vinegar, salt, and pepper. Top with the pickled onions, two to three tablespoons of crumbled goat cheese, and about a fourth a cup of flaked toasted almonds.

One bite and you'll agree it's worth the extra effort.

5. Winter Citrus and Avocado Salad

What makes these delicious citrus salads even better? A little creamy avocado, obviously!

This dish from The Kitchen Magpie is simply a bed of arugula, topped with one to two Cara Cara oranges or one large grapefruit, peeled and sectioned. Then one to two navel oranges peeled and sectioned.

Next, add one medium ripe avocado peeled and sliced, and two to three tablespoons of pomegranate seeds. Toss with a dressing of olive oil, honey, lemon juice, yellow mustard, poppy seeds, salt, and pepper. Yummy!
