Sippin' On Citrus: 5 Tasty Citrus Cocktail Recipes

5 Tasty Citrus Cocktail Recipes

Citrus fruits aren't just for eating, they're also for drinking! Read on to learn about five tasty and refreshing citrus cocktails that will keep you sipping!

Use your citrus fruits to the best of their abilities! Sometimes the day calls for a tasty citrus cocktail instead of taking a bite out of an orange.

Getting plenty of citrus in your diet can include recipes with the many varieties of citrus fruits.

But when it's time for refreshments, here's how we enjoy some of our favorite citrus cocktails.

1. Gimme a Gimlet

The gimlet is simple, yet delicious.

You need only three ingredients for the perfect Gimlet: vodka (or gin), simple syrup, and lime.

Start with two ounces of gin or vodka. Add one ounce of lime and one ounce of simple syrup.

Traditionally served on the rocks, the gimlet is a refreshing and simple cocktail.

2. Hand Me a Harvey Wallbanger

Sticking with another simple citrus drink, the Harvey Wallbanger delivers.

There's some debate over how this drink earned its name. Folklore points to its namesake as a surfer in the 1950s by the name of Tom Harvey.

Despite the mystery, the drink has stood the citrus vodka drink test of time.

You'll start with fresh squeezed orange juice and with vodka in a tall glass with ice. Then add the third special ingredient: Galliano.

It's an Italian herbal liqueur filled with vanilla and anise. The Galliano floats on top for the finishing touch.

3. Make Me a Margarita

Did you forget that your favorite a margarita is a citrus cocktail? Lime juice is a key ingredient.

For the perfectly blended margarita, mix 1.5 ounces of tequila with one ounce of lime juice and half an ounce of Triple Sec.

Enjoy your citrus beverage frozen or on the rocks!

4. Serve Me a Citrus Rye and Ginger

Sit and chat a spell with friends and a glass of citrus rye and ginger.

You'll sip this one slowly, but it's worth every puckery sip.

Take two ounces of your favorite rye whiskey and pour over ice. Add one ounce of fresh lime juice and one ounce of ginger ale.

Stir, serve, sip, and enjoy.

5. Pass Me a Paloma

This cocktail gives grapefruit a chance to shine.

When mixed well, it's a delightful drink worthy of its namesake. Paloma means "dove" in Spanish.

In a tall glass, mix two ounces of tequila with half an ounce of lime juice. Add three ounces of unsweetened grapefruit juice, half an ounce of simple syrup, then top with club soda.

Stir everything well, then enjoy. Garnish with salt around the rim for an extra bit of flavor.

Mix it Up With Citrus Cocktails

If you're bored with eating your citrus fruits every day, mix it up with some citrus cocktails.

Use these recipes to mix something new and enjoy your citrus fruits in another way. But as with any alcoholic cocktail, be sure you mix and drink responsibly.
