If you have ever wanted to know how exactly to make the freshest homemade Valencia orange juice look no further.
In this article, we will teach you the five key steps to make the best orange juice around! Read on to find out more about getting your daily dose of Vitamin C.
1. Select the Best Oranges
The key to a great tasting taste of Valencia orange juice is all down to the oranges you are using. You want to use oranges that feel heavy and full of liquid to be squeezed. Look at the skin, too; it should be tight and firmly textured.
The color of the orange doesn't always indicate taste. Valencia oranges are golden in color but can sometimes have a green hue to them, but don't be put off by that! Also, check that your oranges don't have any soft spots to them as that's a sign they have spoiled.
2. Wash Your Fruit and Cut in Half
The next step is to wash your fruit under a cold tap to ensure the fruit is clean and free from any dirt. Depending on how much juice you are planning to make, three medium-sized oranges will make one glass of juice. So scale up your measurements accordingly.
Once you have done that, you can cut your oranges in half, ready to be juiced.
3. Select Your Juicing Machine
It doesn't necessarily matter what juicing machine you do use, they all produce similar results, even just a manual handheld one. So whatever juicing device you use, pass your oranges through the machine, so you get all the juice out. Remember to squeeze hard, so you don't waste any.
4. Pulp or No Pulp?
This is the eternal dilemma of the orange juice drinker. Are you having pulp in your orange juice or no pulp? If you prefer no pulp, then pass your juice through an extra fine sieve to remove any of the pulp from the liquid.
5. Additions to the Juice
Now you should have your juice ready to be served in a glass. If you have a sweet tooth, you can choose to add a tsp of sugar per serving and a dash of water to sweeten the whole juice up. If you prefer just straight orange juice, pour into a glass with ice, and you are ready to go.
