5 Citrus Drinks That Are Perfect For the Summer

Here are some easy-to-make citrus beverages that are bound to quench your thirst.

1. Fresh Lemonade

What better way to relax than with a cup of freshly-made lemonade?

Begin by heating 1/2 cup of granulated sugar in a small saucepan. Stir until it is completely dissolved.

Pour the melted sugar carefully into a large pitcher and add in 2 cups of fresh lemon juice. Add a dash of salt before stirring to blend. Allow the lemonade to cool to room temperature before putting it in the fridge. Serve cold.

2. Fresh Limeade

Limeade is a common drink made from fresh limes. Light green in color, it is both refreshing and fragrant. It's also easy to make.

Squeeze 5 to 6 kaffir limes to get 1 cup of lime juice. Remove any small seeds that you come across.

Pour the lime juice into a large pitcher and add 7 to 8 cups of water. Add in 1 cup of sugar to taste; stir until it is completely dissolved.

Place the pitcher in the fridge to chill for 2 hours before serving.

3. Sparkling Lime Rickey

This recipe makes a non-alcoholic version of the classic Lime Rickey cocktail.

Squeeze 5 to 6 limes to get 1 cup of fresh lime juice. Mix it with 1/2 cup of simple syrup (you can also use two tablespoons of sugar); stir until it dissolves.

Fill 4 small glasses with ice and pour in the sweetened lime juice mixture. Divide 1 cup of club soda between the glasses and stir until combined. Garnish the beverage with a lime wedge and serve cold.

4. Lemon Ginger Tea

Lemon ginger tea is not only delicious, but it comes with plenty of health benefits. For instance, it helps to relieve cold and flu symptoms.

Begin by heating four cups of water in a pot. Remove from the heat source once it's boiled. Add in one lemon (sliced) and a small piece of ginger root.

Steep the lemon ginger tea for 20 minutes before straining. Serve warm or cold.

You can also add honey for extra flavor.

5. Lemon-Lime Margarita

Margaritas are cocktails that consist of tequila and citrus juice. Why not try making your own?

Wet the rim of a glass with a wedge of lemon or lime. Afterward, rub it in salt.

Combine 30ml of tequila, 60ml of lemon juice, 60ml of lime juice, and 20ml of simple syrup. Add ice and shake for 10 seconds, and serve cold.
