Are you looking to satisfy your sweet tooth while still eating something healthy?

Fruit, especially tangerines, are a great option! They're packed with natural sugars but also contain the vitamins your body needs.

Keep reading to learn about five different types of tangerines.

1. Clementines

Almost everyone recognizes those Cutie clementines in the grocery store as healthy snacks. These adorable fruits are actually a type of tangerine! Here are some of their notable features:

  • Easy-to-peel (even for kids!)
  • Small
  • Sweet
  • Seedless

These snacks are the perfect addition to a lunchbox or when paired with breakfast. They're also often used in cooking due to their sweetness.

2. Dancy

You may not have heard of them before, but Dancy tangerine fruits began as one of the oldest and most popular citrus varieties in the U.S.

This tangerine fruit is a flavorful, easy-to-peel and fun snack for the whole family.

Dancy tangerines are the perfect sweet, small and target baby tangerines that will explode in your mouth. They taste a lot like strong delicious orange juice, and they're as easy to peel as clementines.

3. Tangor

Tangor fruits are actually a type of hybrid tangerine. They're a mix between a traditional mandarin and a sweet orange.

You may have seen this type of fruit labeled as "honey tangerine" at the store. They do have some seeds, but they're known for their sweetness.

Are you still looking for reasons to eat tangerines? A single serving of tangerines gives you about 31% of your daily recommended intake of Vitamin C.

That's quite a punch for such a tiny fruit!

4. Sunburst

Sunburst tangerines are distinct and bold both in flavor and appearance. They're a very dark orange with a specific sun-like shape on the stem. They also have a very intense and sweet flavor.

Sunburst fruits have a lot of juice, too.

These fruits are a classic favorite, but they are more acidic than other tangerines. Since they're bigger than other varieties, they also have more Vitamin C. One Sunburst gives you almost half of what you need in a day.

Like Dancy fruits, Sunbursts perish pretty fast. They'll last about a week in the refrigerator and two days at room temperature.

5. Mandarin Types of Tangerines

Mandarin tangerines come in several varieties. Clementines, the most popular tangerine, is of the mandarin variety. Here are some other popular types of mandarin tangerines:

  • Encore
  • Kara
  • Honey
  • Kinnow
  • Willow Leaf
  • Chinese Honey Mandarin
  • Pixie
  • Wilking

The USDA says that tangerine and mandarin consumption has doubled in the last decade. These tiny vitamin-packed fruits are so popular for good reason. They're convenient, easy-to-peel, and delicious. Mandarins can also make you healthier!
