Limeade is the answer!
Here is everything you need to know about creating your own batch of homemade limeade!
How to Make Limeade
Limeade is a fairly simple citrus drink recipe that only requires a few ingredients. It's also a recipe that can be customized to include other fruits, allowing you to get creative and come up with a recipe that's all your own!
Here's what you'll need to get started:
- 1 cup lime juice
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 5 cups of water
- ice cubes (optional)
- lemon or lime slices (optional)
Squeeze one cup of fresh lime juice from either Persian limes or Key limes. If you choose Key limes, be sure to get plenty because they're smaller than their Persian counterparts. Key limes are also slightly sweeter than Persian limes, so take that into consideration when planning your limeade recipe!
Combine the lime juice, sugar, and water in a pitcher and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. You can then add additional sugar or water, depending on how sweet you want your limeade to be.
Refrigerate the limeade or pour it in glasses over ice. Garnish your glasses with lemon or lime slices and serve!
Variations of Limeade
Limeade is delicious, but if you want to switch it up or you have some extra fruit you'd like to experiment with, try making a different kind of lime juice recipe!
Your limeade recipe can easily turn into a lemon limeade recipe if you swap out a portion of the lime juice for lemon juice!
Strawberry limeade has all the tang of lime with the sweetness of a strawberry! To make it, simply blend one cup of strawberries into your lime juice. You can even get creative and garnish your strawberry limeade with strawberry slices or sink frozen berries to the bottom of the glass!
If you prefer a limeade variation that can be considered a mocktail, mint limeade is the way to go! You'll first have to create a mint simple syrup by heating your water, sugar, and 3/4 cup of mint leaves in a saucepan until they come to a boil. Let the syrup cool, remove the mint leaves, and stir the syrup into the lime juice!
You can easily turn your mocktail into a cocktail by adding tequila!
